JAN ERIK WAIDER
ABOUT
Jan Erik Waider is a visual artist primarily working with moving image. His practice centers on water, flow, and geological transformation, filmed from an aerial perspective in remote northern landscapes. By removing the horizon and minimizing camera movement, he creates what he describes as moving paintings—quiet compositions in which motion unfolds within the landscape itself. Rather than spectacle, his works embrace restraint. Rivers carve sediment, waves dissolve black sand, glaciers fracture into shifting surfaces. Time appears as erosion and gradual transition. Scale becomes ambiguous, and landscapes oscillate between abstraction and documentation, between vast terrain and intimate texture. His works invite prolonged, contemplative viewing. His visual language has been commissioned by brands including Apple and Google, and extends to artistic collaborations ranging from music visuals for Coldplay to high jewelry contexts such as Boucheron.
