In this interview, we delve into the creative mind of Polina Bulgakova to uncover the inspirations, philosophies, and processes that drive her extraordinary art.

Q1. What tools do you use for your work?
A. I use Blender, Premiere pro, sometimes Photoshop. All the modeling happens in Blender, Premiere Pro is for compositing, Photoshop for textures adjustment.

Q2. What music do you listen to while working?
A. I love deep house, it helps me concentrate and stay focused. Sometimes though I put some movie or TV show in the background, it can be as useful as music.

Q3. Is there a message you want to convey through your work?
A. I seek to convey authenticity and presence. I try to explore themes that resonate deeply with human experiences, and emphasise the dynamic relationships between individuals and their environments. I have a very diverse background, and I love to reflect on it in my work. Through that, I want viewers to accept their inner conflicts and differences, and this is my main goal.

Q4. What time of day do you usually work?
A. I usually work late evenings and nights, I love the silence and how the world freezes around me, which helps me to stay here and now during my work.

Q5. Can you briefly describe the place where you work?
A. I have a small cozy home studio with an “organized chaos” charm, my table is full of stuff as are my walls.

Q6. Please share one object that inspires your work.
A. I’m a very visual person, and it’s hard to name a specific object. My work process is very intuitive, and sometimes I don’t even realize what was an inspiration behind a project. I really love nature though, and I draw a lot of inspiration from it, so I’d say my plants corner is one of my biggest inspiration spots.
