“LED.ART is the ideal form of digital art—it blends into the cityscape and enhances the value of the medium itself.”
In February 2024, First System, a leading LED module company in Japan, announced its exclusive partnership to introduce the digital art platform LED.ART—developed by Korea’s d’strict and CJ Group—to the Japanese market. Globally praised for its dynamic and immersive visuals, LED.ART elevates the potential of LED screens by transforming them into artistic experiences.

First Broadcast at YUNIKA Vision
The very first broadcast of LED.ART in Japan took place in November 2024 at Tokyo’s iconic YUNIKA Vision in Shinjuku. Shingo Tonochi, Manager of the Digital Solutions Department at YUNIKA, explained: “LED.ART isn’t just digital content—it’s a form of urban art that naturally draws attention and leaves a lasting impression.”

The first work selected for the launch, CITY, offered a strikingly unique perspective—presenting an upward view of the city from ground level. “It was a concept we’d never seen before,” said Tonochi. “The visual seamlessly blended with the building while stopping people in their tracks.”

Spring Launch: BOOMING BEAR
Starting in April 2025, LED.ART began regular programming on YUNIKA Vision, Cross Shinjuku Vision, and Pandora Vision. The content is played in designated time slots—YUNIKA (30s x2 per hour), Cross (30s x4), and Pandora (30s x1) in May 2025. For spring, the featured content was BOOMING BEAR: SPRING, in which a teddy bear dramatically bursts out of a flower field. The contrast between familiar urban scenery and unexpected animation delivered visual impact and drew strong reactions from passersby.

Why the Media Pays for the Art
In a rare move, YUNIKA chose to pay for the rights to broadcast LED.ART—a reversal of the typical media model where advertisers pay for screen time. Tonai explained that the company strongly believes LED.ART contributes directly to increasing the value of the media itself. That belief led them to contract with First System and showcase the work across their platforms.
Moreover, LED.ART provides custom adjustments for various screen formats and aspect ratios, easing the operational burden and ensuring high-quality visual delivery regardless of location.

YUNIKA’s Perspective on LED.ART
“While most of our content has been designed to attract crowds,
LED.ART does the opposite—it captivates those who pass by by chance,
creates immersive moments, and leaves a deep impression on their memory.”
Rather than loud, disruptive ads, LED.ART delivers an elegant, silent presence that enhances the city around it.
YUNIKA sees it as more than just media—it’s a new form of public digital art.
By embracing LED.ART, YUNIKA is not just operating LED displays, but redefining how we experience cities.
