This generative art piece was made by combining two systems: A multi-scale Turing pattern that generates dots and stripes, based on an abstracted model of how tropical fish form their patterns, and a model of compressible flow. The simulated fluid is colored and stirred by the Turing pattern, resulting in moving regions of structures that continually collide, obliterate and regenerate. Horizontal bands of blue and white interact with upwelling plumes of red and yellow.
