This generative art piece was made by combining two systems: A multi-scale Turing pattern that generates dots and stripes, based on an abstracted model of how tropical fish form their patterns, and a model of compressible flow. The simulated fluid is colored and stirred by the Turing pattern, resulting in moving regions of structures that continually collide, obliterate and regenerate. Orange-red licks like flames in green-yellow foliage.
