Contemporary Ancestors is an ongoing artistic journey that began in 2016, rooted in my exploration of ancient Persian motifs and their relevance to the present. Developed through years of research, experimentation, and interpretation, the project seeks to bridge past and future, tradition and innovation. Throughout history, visual symbols have carried the beliefs and identities of civilizations. In this series, I draw from forms and patterns across different periods of the Persian Empire, each reflecting a distinct cultural and spiritual narrative through a balance of simplicity and complexity. I chose pottery vessels as my primary medium—among the earliest human-made objects and long-standing carriers of ritual, myth, and meaning. By reinterpreting these vessels through a contemporary artistic lens, I aim to preserve their essence while opening new creative possibilities. More than a single body of work, Contemporary Ancestors is a continuously evolving study of how ancient motifs transcend time, echoing across cultures and shaping how we understand heritage in the present.
